Comparison of Soil Taxonomy (2022) and WRB (2022) Systems for Classifying Paddy Soils with Different Drainage Grades in South Korea

Soil classification is the systematic of soils based on distinguishing characteristics soil, aiding in understanding properties through soil survey and establishing appropriate strategies for effective utilization management. Globally, Taxonomy (ST) World Reference Base resources (WRB) are widely used classification. However, two systems have differences criteria, thus exhibiting difficulties exchanging results. In South Korea, has been steadily implemented to provide useful information farmers efficient management, contributing sustainability paddy lands, but it not easy establish an accurate system due intensive management variation redox conditions. this study, with different drainage grades, pedon 1 2, were classified using ST WRB, comparative results, a criterion Korea was recommended. According ST, as coarse loamy, mesic family (the mean annual temperature, 11–14 °C) Anthroaquic Eutrudepts (artificially irrigated, base saturation > 60%), whereas 2 Fluvaquentic Endoaquepts (organic carbon content 0.2%, water-saturated across profile). Based categorized follows: Stagnic Hydragric Anthrosols (Eutric, Loamic, Oxyaquic) (saturated surface water, subsurface horizon that wet-field human-affected) Gleyic ground 2. Overall, these pedons consistently by judging according depth, there difference layer upon water horizons. Poor hinders rice growth paddies lowering temperature occurrence harmful reduction products. regard, we proposed draft criteria specialized grades. This will contribute sustainable accurately classifying providing better farmers.
